In this months President's Message from Dr. Nelson Tuazon you can read updates about District 8 and the strategic steps District 8 is taking to move onward and forward.
Dr. Tuazon dives into why being in a professional organization is important as he deciphers "What's In It For Me" and "In Case You Missed It."
An African proverb reminds us: “I am because we are.” As president of TNA District 8, I would like to remind ourselves that we have the professional duty and obligation to belong to a professional organization (DeLeskey, 2003; Echevarria, 2018; Greggs-McQuilkin, 2005; Schroeder, 2013; Sullivan & Stevenson, 2009). As members of TNA, we generate energy, promote the exchange of ideas, and contribute to the advancement of nursing through our involvement and engagement. Ultimately, we continue to be the most trusted profession as we gain the trust of society through the social, civic, and professional activities, and programs and initiatives of our organization (Matthews, 2012).
This past week we welcomed in our new officers. Pictured left to right are: Dr. Nelson Tuazon, President; Dr. Sarah Williams, Board Member; Mark Gwin, Board Member; Dr. Danet Bluhm, Board Member; Jim Halloran, Treasurer.
The inducting officer was Dr. Serena Bumpus, CEO of Texas Nurses Association (pictured far right).
Thank you Donna Wallis for your direction as Past-President of TNA District 8. We so appreciate all the work you have done to move our district forward and are rooting you on!
We are so excited about the formation of our newest committee - the Community Committee. We would love to have you join this committe as we engage District 8!
